How to add a signature in Outlook for iPhone and Android
Need a signature that works in Gmail and Outlook? Build one free in about two minutes, no account needed.
Make my signatureIn the Outlook app, open Settings > Mail > Signature, delete the default "Get Outlook for iOS" or "Get Outlook for Android" text and type your own. The mobile signature does not sync from Outlook on your computer, so you set it once on each phone. If you have more than one account in the app, turn on the per-account option to give each address its own signature.
Steps
- Open Outlook on your phone and tap your profile picture or account icon.
- Tap the Settings gear.
- Under Mail, tap Signature.
- Replace the default text with your signature.
- If you use several accounts, turn on Per Account Signature and fill in each one.
Microsoft's help page describes the same path. The labels can move slightly between app versions.
What to expect
- It is separate from desktop. Outlook for Windows, Mac and the web each keep their own signature. Changing one does not change the app. See why Outlook signatures do not sync.
- Keep it short. The mobile editor is made for text. A designed HTML signature with a logo and table often does not paste cleanly. Name, title, company and one phone number is a good mobile signature.
- The default line is optional. You can delete "Get Outlook for iOS". We cover that in remove "Get Outlook for iOS".
For company signatures
A signature typed in the app is not managed by anyone. If your company needs the same designed signature on mail sent from phones, that requires a server-side tool, which adds the signature after the message leaves the device. Client-side tools, Sendoff included, cannot add a signature to mail sent from the Outlook mobile app.
FAQ
Why does my desktop Outlook signature not appear on my phone? Because the app keeps its own signature. Set it under Settings > Mail > Signature.
Can I use a different signature for each account in Outlook mobile? Yes. Turn on the per-account signature option and edit each one.
Can I add a logo to my Outlook mobile signature? The mobile editor is designed for text, and pasted images are unreliable. Keep the logo for your desktop signature.
